Arizona Red Rocks Overview
Arizona Red Rocks Hiking Details
Northern Arizona is a wild and remote place with very interesting and somewhat complex geology.  It is located on the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau, and includes Monument Valley, The Vermillion Cliffs, the Petrified Forest, the San Francisco volcanic field, and world-class slot canyons such as Buckskin Gulch and Antelope Canyon.

Northern Arizona contains some of the most iconic and rich scenery in the southwest.  You may recognize several areas from old John Wayne or Gary Cooper movies, as this was once a popular place to truly capture the spirit and scenery of the Old West.

Surprising and haunting from the stark and remote beauty of the Painted Desert and ancient Native American ruins to the lush aspen forests found in its 12,000ft peaks, Northern Arizona adventures offers something very unique to each of its visitors.

The Painted Desert is world-class canyons, blazing sunsets, ancient ruins, and out-of-this-world geologic features, and a trip into this special area is a lifetime experience.
Dependant upon where you are and when you are in Northern Arizona, the region can present many different climate and topographic challenges that will both delight and surprise.  The desert regions can reach 100 degrees in the summer, and the mountains can recieve several feet of snow in the winter.  Good physical condition is required, as well as smart packing for any of the trips you may choose in this region (see our blog for training and packing tips).
